Explainer for institutes

LMS vs ERP vs CRM: which one does an institute need?

An LMS (learning management system) runs teaching: lessons, live classes, tests and results. An ERP (enterprise resource planning) system runs operations and money: fees, payroll, accounts and stock. A CRM (customer relationship management) system runs admissions: enquiries, follow-ups and enrolments. The Academix is an LMS with academic management; it has no fee or admissions module today.

What an institute usually needs at 50, 300 and 2,000 students

A rough guide, not a rule. Your subjects, branches and admission season matter as much as head count.

How to decide what to buy first

Start with the system that removes the most weekly work. For many coaching institutes that is teaching and testing: preparing tests, marking them and telling students and parents how they did. For a school with buses and a large staff, fees and payroll may cost more hours than tests do.

Be wary of any product that claims to do all three equally well at a small institute's price. Ask to see each module working in a demo with real-looking data, and ask which modules are live today rather than planned.
